It keeps its place as Pure Fire's opener, since its burn starts the chain. Evolution III itself adds only a small retaliation burn, a weaker Essence buy than Flaries or Vulpyrean.

Eruptions every 3s feed 2 Rage to each Fire ally, which suits long fights. It trails Solhorn because its damage never grows with burn, and both cost the same Oath-and-Aurora path.
Overview
Pure Fire is built around Magmolin, and one cast earns it that job. Lava Shock hits 3 random enemies for 397% and leaves each burning for 1000% over 10s, and burning targets are what the rest of Fire keys off: Flaries' stun and Blazeal's bonus both need them. Unlike Hoofrit, it needs no Evolution to set that burn.
Its passive is the odd part. Tempered Steel doubles Steel output across every Furnace in camp, so it pays even on the bench, while its Ascension steps turn it partly into a combat skill that trims the damage Fire allies take. Outside that, Magmolin is a front-liner with a 94% basic attack and little else. Evolve it, but expect most of its value from the burn and the camp rather than from Obsidrake.
