Front row (top) faces the enemy — Franco, Hilda and Uranus (all true melee, ATK Range 1) hold it. Alice has ATK Range 2, not 1, and no innate Defense of her own — she's a burst mage carrying the Dauntless tag for the shield, not a real tank, so she sits one row back instead of soaking the opener. Marksmen sit in the back corners, spread a tile apart so a single AoE can't catch two at once; Angela camps mid early and is pulled once the back line is set.
