Overgeared Hero: Merge RPG/Basics

How Overgeared Hero works

Overgeared Hero is a roguelike auto-battler. Between rounds you buy, place, rotate and merge items in a grid backpack; when the fight starts your hero attacks on its own using whatever you built. Progress across runs comes from gear, hero stars, pets and blessings that let you start later runs with items already placed.

The run loop

Pick a mode, then a hero (plus pets and any unlocked supplies). Choosing a hero locks the run to that hero's item type — Warrior, Ranger or Wizard — so only that pool (and Universal items) appears in the shop.

Each round opens a shop of four items. Buy with gold, drag items into the backpack, rotate them to fit, and sell anything you don't want for about half its value. Refreshing the shop costs 1 gold. The deeper you go, the better the odds of higher rarities.

Start the battle. It plays out automatically — your hero and the enemy both use their equipped items, pets and effects. Clear the enemy to move to the next round; finish the chapter or dungeon floor to complete the run.

The backpack grid

Every item has a shape and takes up a set number of squares. Rotating items lets you pack more in.

Some items have empty circular sockets. A socket activates when an item of the required type sits on the matching square — for example, armor placed above Plate Armor unlocks extra Block. Socket and adjacency effects are where most strong builds come from.

Item grades

Items run Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic.

Legendary items are created by merging — they don't appear in the normal shop. Mythic items are hero gear only.

Special Shops (from certain chapters, modes, or the Geezer pet) sell already-merged items at a discount.

Merging

Compatible items combine into a stronger version. In a run, select an item and tap the book icon to see its recipe tree — components needed, and other recipes that use it.

See the Items pages on this site for each item's merge relationships, and the merge-recipe reference for the full tree.

Heroes

24 heroes are planned, 8 each of Warrior, Ranger and Wizard (22 are in the game so far). Grades are Rare, Epic and Legendary.

You start with the Rare Warrior; Ranger and Wizard unlock later. Unlock and rank up heroes with hero shards — ranking up strengthens the ownership effect, raises Supply Ability, and unlocks more supply items at 1, 3, 5 and 7 stars (max 8 stars).

Each hero has two skills, an ownership effect (a percentage HP or ATK boost that grows with stars), and — for Epic and Legendary heroes — an exclusive item or merge recipe.

Gear

Worn before a run: 1 Weapon, 1 Shield, 2 Rings, 2 Gloves. Gear is brought in as starting items.

Level a gear slot with Gear Enhancement Stones (a Gear Blueprint is needed every 10 levels, max 80). Swapping gear keeps the slot's level.

Upgrade gear by merging copies of it — Common through Mythic +4. Resetting a '+' gear returns Gear Scrolls you can spend on other gear in the same slot.

Pets

Up to 3 pets per run, from the Nest (Pet Eggs). Pets run Rare to Mythic.

Each pet gives HP and ATK, an ownership effect, and an active skill with an activation cost of 1–3 — you have 5 points of pet budget per run. Level pets with Pet Food (max 80) and rank them up with Pet Shards.

Dragon's Blessing

A per-hero enhancement in the Dungeon tab. Spend blessing gems (Courage for Warrior, Agile for Ranger, Wisdom for Wizard — 10 per attempt) to roll blessings from Common to Mythic.

The overall Dragon's Blessing level (1–9) improves the odds and rarities and unlocks blessing slots, up to 5.

Modes

Chapter Challenge — the main mode, ~12 rounds (elites at 4 and 8, boss at 12). Costs 5 energy. Awards stars for clearing without dying.

Tower of Trials — 100 floors of 10 sub-floors; you can't shop mid-run and pet actives are disabled. Ticket-gated (one every 10 minutes, cap 10).

Dungeons — Pet, Hero and Blessing dungeons (daily) for progression materials.

Expedition — an idle lobby that banks rewards for up to 20 hours.

Arena — asynchronous PvP with its own backpacks, across Bronze to Master leagues.

Clan — donations, the Clan Shop, and Clan Raid.
