How merging works

Every merge takes one main item and merges one or more parts into it. Plate Armor, for example, is Leather Armor with an Anvil merged in. The result replaces the parts, and it usually takes less room than they did: the Plate Armor fits in 4 cells where the Leather Armor and the Anvil took 6. Results can be parts of bigger recipes, so a pile of shop items can chain through two or three merges before it settles. That chain is how nearly every Legendary is made, since Legendaries never appear in the normal shop.

Items sell back for about half what you paid, so buying a part only to merge it and selling what is left over is normal play. The Mimic pet merges everything it can at the start of a round for 1 energy, which is the situation this calculator models. Some Epic and Legendary heroes also bring their own recipe that only works while you play them; untick the box above to leave those out.

How the calculator picks

When one item could go into two recipes, the calculator makes the rarer result first, then the one that uses more parts. Any step where that choice mattered lists the other option, and one click switches to it. Item sizes count only the cells an item fills; its sockets don't count, since other items sit on them. 65 items have no shape in our data yet, so the space total leaves them out and says how many it skipped.
