Hedgehog gives a spike build a small head start. Spike Guard grants Block and 10 Spike when the fight starts, its first star adds a little more Spike, and the other stars only raise the Block. For a Warrior trying a spike build before any Legendary pets hatch, that is a cheap way to test the reflect plan.
The Spike comes once and never again. Jellyfish Princess keeps adding Spike every time you're hit, up to a cap each battle, so she does the job at a scale Hedgehog can't reach, and Rose's Double Up spike runs bring her. At 3 energy with no cost cut, Hedgehog is expensive for what it does, and a Rare pet in the slot drags down your combat stats. Replace it the day the Princess hatches; until then, owning it adds 5% Total HP to every hero.
