Worth building because it keeps the Fire aura and cashes in every burn on a target at once. It waits behind other Megas because it needs a full burn team around it to do anything.
Is Scarvulpine worth it?
Scarvulpine is the Mega that makes a Fire squad's burn layer detonate. Heartscorch at Evolution V adds 40% damage to Burning Tails against targets that are already burning, and Vixenflare at Evolution VIII goes further: a burning target hit by Burning Tails is ignited, so every Burn stack on it triggers at once with 30% more Burn damage. On a team running Magmolin, Hoofrit and Revontulet itself, almost everything is burning, which means the skill reads as a delete button on whichever enemies your team has already set alight. Evolution VIII also gives Fire allies 20% Stun and Freeze Resist, which matters in Conquest Season fights. The build order is what places it third: Gnashswirl and Pharohound are better first buys on most accounts, and this one is worth waiting for.
None of it is worth buying for a squad that is not built around burn. With nothing alight, Vixenflare has nothing to ignite and Heartscorch's bonus never applies, so this is the one Mega that can be close to dead weight in the wrong team.
