Its protection works for a front row of any element, which makes it a sound pick to fill out a first squad. It stays B because in a Water or Electric team it takes a slot without collecting their auras.

After each Roar, Sentinel's damage cut grows by half for 10s, landing while enemy damage is already sapped. Mammolith still outlasts it at the Earth front, so in our Pure Earth team Anubeast is the second tank, not the first.

A Mega for long fights: its damage climbs with every Palmon that falls, which suits guild boss and Pyramid battles more than a quick PvP exchange. Leafergarde comes first on an Earth account.
Overview
First squads need a front-liner that works with whatever element you have, and Statchew is one. Sentinel lowers the damage every front-row ally takes by 12.5%, Earth or not, and Protective Roar hits all enemies while cutting their damage by 30% for 5s. With both running, the front row lasts long enough for the damage dealers behind it to finish their work.
The element-free part is also its ceiling. Moved into a Water squad it takes a slot that could hold a Water aura and gives back a generic damage cut, which usually costs more than it adds. Statchew does its best work on Earth, where it holds a place in our Pure Earth team. Anubeast is the step worth buying, since it makes Sentinel half again stronger after every Roar. Pharohound is a later project, best kept for guild boss and Pyramid battles.
