No combat skill, only a 30% coin chance on merges; Barbarian's Battle Cry gives a free Warrior an actual fight skill.
The starter Warrior has no combat skill at all: Valiant Hero reads 'Braver than others' and does nothing in a fight. Everything he offers is economy. Artisan's Spirit gives each merge a 30% chance at 1 Coin, so early runs with him can buy their way into a stronger backpack, and his supplies bring a Wooden Shield and helmets for early bulk. His chapter clears come from gear and pets alone, which shows how much of this game lives outside the hero.
That is also the argument against him. Anything he clears, a hero with a real skill clears more easily. Barbarian, the other free Warrior, turns every hit taken into Spike and Haste, a fight skill this hero simply lacks. Move to Barbarian as soon as you have him.
Valiant Hero — Braver than others

Stats. Raises HP by a percentage that grows with each of the hero's stars (max 9).
With no combat skill of his own, the starter Warrior leans on pets: Flora's heal and cleanse every 4 seconds for sustain, and White Wolf Captain's Haste plus its own attacks for damage. Mimic keeps the merges and his coin chance ticking.

Stats are equal in Double Up, so the Warrior's missing skill costs nothing here, and Spiked Armor does the killing: each one raises Max HP by 40% and adds 5 Spike every 3.5 seconds, which punishes enemies too tanky to hit down. Golden Pigs pay a coin on every shop visit early, then get sold for the space the third Spiked Armor needs. Take every Spike item out for round 7, where the enemy steals buffs.
