Lumi Master October patch: Meowgon halved, Astrasting nerfed, Brawnturion and Bowlguin up

What the 8 October balance patch and the 19 October update changed in Lumi Master, which Lumi moved on our tier list because of it, and the four Arena teams added to Best Teams.

The balance patch, 8 October

Five general skills changed, so the patch reaches far past the Lumi it names. Ice Shards dropped from 60 to 50 power but now has a 20% chance per hit to apply Frostbite, double the old rate. Blazing Inferno went from 120 to 110, Dragon Rage's Pierce from 25% to 20% per DEF stage the target has lost, and Mimic now costs 3 Energy instead of 2. Swift Strike was the one buff, from 40 to 50 power. Every Lumi page that carries one of these skills shows the new numbers.

The roar teams took the biggest hit. Bluesaur Goma's Meowgon now takes 1 DEF stage from each entering enemy instead of 2, and Pinkasaur Peach's version takes 1 ATK stage. MEGA TOMATO gets 1 Energy per knockout instead of 2, and OLD TOMATO and MEGA TOMATO may now share a team.

Lumi changes

Most of the named changes are small, but a few shift how a Lumi plays rather than how hard it hits. Sandlord's Parting Gift no longer passes anything when an enemy skill forces it out. Loongster's Arrogant and Zoryx's Maple Dart now grant their stages after a multi-hit skill ends rather than hit by hit, so the stages no longer build up partway through the skill.

  • Up: Bowlguin's Spinning Iceblade throws 2 to 5 blades (was 1 to 5); Stellalibra's Whirl of Judgment 35 to 40 power; Gambir and Gambir - Variant reach each Shuffle discount after 1, 2, 4 and 7 entries (was 1, 3, 5, 8); Glasnake's Venom and Venom - Variant 10% to 15%; Super Peach's Supercat lifesteal 10% to 15% per Purr-fect Date ally.
  • Down: Astrasting's Flash Stinger 30 to 10 power and Scorpio Gleam III 4.5% to 3% of max HP per Poison stack; Shadosting's Twin Stinger 20 to 10; Fierikat's Fan the Flames heal 6% to 4.5% (plus 1.5% per extra Fire Lumi, was 2%); Little Red Peach's Sweet Peach heal 20% to 15%; Big Bad Goma's knockout heal for Little Red Peach 10% to 5% per Little Red Hood.

Also in the game data

Our pages also now match the game's current numbers for a few Lumi the notes don't mention: Brawnturion's Horsepower hits for 60 instead of 20, Tubtrotter's Triangle Tactic for 80 instead of 50, Cupony's Body Slam costs 3 instead of 4 and hits for 60, Tubsteed's Back Kick costs 5 instead of 6, and Netherfang - Variant's Hellfire - Variant hits for 70 instead of 60.

The 19 October update

This one changed systems, not balance. Lumi Reset now gives 10 free resets a week once the new-player free period ends, and a planned rule that would have locked resets after Lv. 130 was dropped the same day after player feedback. Lumi in the Rare Gallery can no longer be released, stellarized or sold, and the new Reunion Egg trades in a set number of Lumi for a Rainbow Lumi of your choice from those you have discovered.

In the Lumi Championship, attack and defence teams are now set separately, Defense Reports show how your Gyms were fought, an under-levelled defending team is replaced by an AI team, defence teams tire faster, and a captured Gym recovers to at least 20% Popularity. Every mode now saves its own team, and battles run on a timer.

What moved on the tier list

Nine Lumi changed band. Bluesaur Goma dropped from S to A, Astrasting from A to B and Shadosting from B to C. Bowlguin rose from C to B, and Brawnturion, Puncheroo, Inferaze, Muscledog and Branchling rose from B to A. Each one's reason on the tier list says why.

Best Teams gained four Arena teams: Baton Relay, Puncheroo Storm, Lycanite Sustain and Rain Curtain. The Dragon Roar Armour Break card now says what the Meowgon change costs it, and the Arena counter guide has a new section on beating Brawnturion's skill lock.
